Glass Insulators: Transparent Guardians of High Voltage Transmission Lines
The glass insulator consists of three parts: a steel cap, tempered glass insulation, and steel feet, which are tightly bonded with cement adhesive to form a key structure that supports the conductor and isolates the current. The core principle is to utilize the high insulation performance and mechanical strength of tempered glass to undertake a dual mission in overhead transmission lines:
Supporting wire: The wire is fixed on the iron tower through mechanical connection of steel cap and steel foot, and can withstand vertical load, horizontal load and tension of the wire.
Insulation isolation: Tempered glass insulation forms a high resistance barrier to prevent current from flowing back to the ground through the iron tower, ensuring the safe operation of the line.
